SPRING 2023 TEAM

Julie D’Amanda is originally from Rochester, NY, and moved to Charlotte with her family 5 years ago, though she considers Wilmington her home. In May of 2023, she will be graduating with her degree in Communication Studies with a concentration in IMC, and a minor in French. At her time at UNCW she has served as Marketing Assistant, Marketing Coordinator, and Activities Chair for the Association for Campus Entertainment. Currently she is an International Student Mentor, and spends most of her time involved in Port City Community Church’s college ministry called Overflow. Julie will continue to pursue a career in advertising and marketing post grad, hopefully for a Fashion or Beauty company. When Julie is not at school or church you can find her shopping for clothes, or trying out a new restaurant.

Kayla P. Bruce is a senior at the University of North Carolina Wilmington pursuing her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with a concentration in Integrated Marketing Communication. Kayla sets herself apart with an eye for design, organization, and unparalleled customer service skills that help companies maximize and diversify their social reach. Kayla works to provide ambitious brands with comprehensive solutions that leverage the power of integrated marketing communication and technology to ensure business growth.
In addition to being a student, Kayla is also a wife and a mother of two. She holds the VP of Ways and Means board position at her children’s school, where she executes and oversees community fundraising and student and faculty events. After graduation in the Spring, Kayla hopes to pursue a career in corporate event planning and design. Kayla calls Wilmington, NC, her home, and she enjoys date nights with her husband and driving on the South End of Kure Beach with her family.

Abby Yun, of Hickory, North Carolina, is a senior majoring in Communication Studies with a concentration in Integrated Marketing Communication and a minor in English. During her time at UNCW, she has served as a Marketing Assistant and Social Media Coordinator for the Association for Campus Entertainment. Abby is currently a Public Information Officer intern for the Wilmington Fire Department through the City of Wilmington. This internship has given her the opportunity to apply her IMC skills through creating social media posts, filming weekly internal communication videos of the Chief Firefighter, and planning various events for the fire department. After she graduates, Abby is interested in pursuing a career in social media advertising and marketing. In her free time, you can find her traveling on site with her sister working as a makeup artist assistant for weddings, hanging out with friends, and studying astrology. 

Nilou Mollaahmad is a junior from Charlotte, NC with a major in Communication Studies and minor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. She is a creative thinker because of her 10+ years in dance performance and choreography. She also prides herself in her customer service skills from her work as a restaurant server and host. Nilou is currently employed as a work study student for the communication department of UNCW Athletics. During this position she has put her professional skills to the test by reporting game statistics and creating highlights for social media. In her major, she has chosen an IMC focus. However, her entrepreneurship minor, as well as her competence in communication and creativity, has inspired a future goal of creating her own social media app. In her free time outside of school, Nilou is passionate about fitness, and you can find her jogging on the beach or training muay thai!

Brittney Ames is a senior and is originally from Jacksonville, North Carolina pursuing a Bachelors in Arts in Communication Studies with a concentration in Integrated Marketing Communication and a minor in Business. She has experience in photography, message design and is currently employed as a recreation attendant on Camp Lejeune. Brittney has hopes for a career as a Public Information Officer for the State or National Park System. In her free time, Brittney enjoys kayaking, spending time on the beach, exploring the North Carolina wilderness and wildlife photography.

Natalie Stinnett is a native of Wilmington, North Carolina, and is set to graduate from UNCW in May 2023. Natalie is majoring in Communication Studies, concentrating in Integrated Marketing Communication, and is minoring in International Studies, concentrating in Globalization. She is a member of UNCW’s Lambda Phi Eta chapter of The Honor Society of The National Communication Association, and is employed as a waitress at Freddie’s Restaurant in Kure Beach. She likes to spend her free time reading, or watching a nice sunset at the beach. Natalie hopes to explore careers in social media after she spends time traveling, trying to find a new place to call home.

Makenzie Shane is a junior pursuing a career in Public Relations through Communication Studies and Journalism. Her experience working with both local and national nonprofit groups has developed a deep understanding of organizational culture, hospitality, content creation, and brand development. Outside of her role in Pier601 Creative, Makenzie is a fitness instructor at Landfall Country Club and president of UNCW Young Life College seeking to encourage people both emotionally and physically. After graduating, Makenzie hopes to continue working for Young Life as a guest services manager and public relations consultant in Colorado. Makenzie’s longing for adventure has led her to explore working as a cowpoke and learning to play drums, but she loves to unwind on her porch with a good book too.

Christine Morris is originally from Charlotte, North Carolina, and transferred to UNCW in the Spring of 2020. She will be graduating in May of 2023 with her degree in Communication studies with a concentration in Integrated Marketing Communication. Christine is skilled in marketing and advertising, graphic design, and social media management. After graduation, she hopes to use her passion for design and organization to pursue a career in event planning or social media marketing. In her free time, Christine enjoys shopping, cooking, attending concerts, and going to the beach.

Emily Beacham is from the Outer Banks, North Carolina.  She is a senior at UNCW majoring in Communication Studies with a minor in Sociology.  Emily has experience with social media management, marketing design, and videography.  She has held several customer service jobs since the beginning that have taught her work ethic and how to make customers feel understood and appreciated.  Emily enjoys creative problem-solving and helping people, and she hopes to pursue marketing and advertising after graduation.  In her free time, Emily enjoys beachcombing, reading, and going out to restaurants and coffee shops.

Julia Agius is a Senior at UNCW majoring in Communication Studies and minoring in Digital Arts. She is originally from the Raleigh area and moved to Wilmington for college. Julia has experience with graphic design work and photography/videography. She is excited to bring these skills to Pier601! After college, Julia hopes to pursue a career in the field of graphic design. In her free time, Julia likes to crochet and adventure around Wilmington. She also enjoys binge-watching tv and going to concerts with her friends.

Zachary Hamlet is from Reidsville, NC. He is a current Senior at the Cameron School of Business, pursuing a degree in Marketing Strategy. Zach is skilled in Graphic Design, Social Media Management, and Videography. He holds strong experience utilizing Canva, and Adobe suite services, including Premier Pro, InDesign, After Effects, and Photoshop. In his free time, Zach enjoys playing sports such as basketball and football, spending time on the beach, and learning new songs on his guitar.
